Formulated and prepared in France
▾
The search for the perfect substrate is at the core of our philosophy. Over more than two years, we researched, tested, and refined multiple formulations to create substrates tailored to the specific needs of each plant. This in-depth work was carried out between Thailand and France, under real growing conditions, with extensive testing focused on drainage, aeration, water retention, and root health. The final formulation of our substrates is completed in France. All our substrates are then prepared and packaged in our greenhouse in the Paris region, under strict quality control, ensuring reliable, high-performance, and long-lasting growing media.

How our Begonia substrate works This substrate has been specifically formulated to meet the needs of Begonias and related plants with fine and sensitive root systems. Its composition provides a precise balance between drainage, aeration, and moisture retention, which is essential for healthy root development in Begonias, whether juvenile or well established. Thanks to its light, airy, and stable structure, the roots benefit from excellent oxygenation while maintaining consistent and controlled moisture levels. This effectively limits the risks of excess water, root rot, and fungal diseases, while promoting healthy and long-term growth. A substrate inspired by the natural habitat of Begonias Begonias are native to tropical and subtropical forests, where they grow on the forest floor or on organic supports, in environments rich in organic matter, cool, shaded, and well draining. This substrate is directly inspired by these natural conditions in order to recreate an environment close to their original habitat, while remaining perfectly suited for container cultivation. Begonia care recommendations Keep the substrate slightly moist at all times, without ever allowing it to become waterlogged. Make sure no standing water remains at the bottom of the pot. A simple finger test helps ensure the substrate stays fresh between waterings. Begonias thrive in soft bright indirect light, a slightly humid atmosphere, and good air circulation, while being protected from cold drafts. Regular but moderate fertilization, combined with a suitable substrate, promotes dense, colorful foliage and balanced growth. How to use the Begonia substrate Gently remove the old substrate from around the roots by lightly pressing the pot to release the root ball. Rinse the roots with lukewarm water to remove remaining residues and inspect them, trimming any damaged parts if necessary. Add a layer of substrate to the bottom of the pot, position the plant in the center while ensuring the crown is not buried too deeply.Lightly firm the substrate to stabilize the plant without compacting it, then water thoroughly to encourage healthy root establishment.

FAQ
Would Begonia substrate be suitable for my plant?
Begonias and related plants originate from tropical and subtropical forests, where they thrive in the soil or on organic matter, in substrates rich in organic matter, cool, shady, well-aerated, and naturally draining. This substrate is directly inspired by these natural conditions to recreate an environment close to their original habitat, while remaining perfectly suited to pot cultivation and healthy, stable, and sustainable long-term growth.
When should I repot my plant?
- Roots growing out of the bottom of the pot
- A substrate that dries out very quickly between waterings
- A plant that has become too heavy or unstable, and tends to tip over
- Roots that push the plant upwards and out of the pot
- Repotting is recommended every 1 to 2 years , depending on the plant's growth.
How long can the substrate be stored?
A sealed substrate , stored in its original bag, dry and away from light, can be kept for 12 to 18 months while preserving its physical and biological properties. Once opened , the substrate remains fully usable for 6 to 9 months , provided it is properly resealed and stored in a dry environment.
A used substrate (already potted and watered) remains effective for 9 to 18 months , depending on the plant, watering frequency, and growing conditions. Beyond this period, the structure and biological activity gradually decrease; it is then recommended to repot or renew the substrate every 1 to 2 years to maintain an optimal root environment. 🌿
How much Begonia substrate do I need?
Use the jar volume calculator available on the product page to determine the quantity you need.
What should I do if my plant doesn't seem happier with its new substrate?
If your plant doesn't seem to be thriving in this substrate, please don't hesitate to contact us . We'll help you diagnose the situation (substrate, watering, light, environment) and find the best solution to ensure healthy and sustainable growth for your plant 🌿
